W.I.N.D.B.R.E.A.K.E.R.

What is it?

A windbreaker is a windsurfer with enough experience to help support beginning windsurfers. The windbreaker is able to help you with setting up and dismantling windsurf gear, giving tips on the water and with choosing the best windsurf gear for a great surfing-day.

What can I do with it?

The goal of windbreakers is to make sure that windsurfers (who are not yet fully independent) join surfing-days more easily. Often these windsurfers cancel a surfing-day, because no instructor is joining. However, there is a very large group that is able to be a windbreaker. Due to the existence of windbreakers there is often someone present who can give you a little guidance.

How do I become it?

Everyone with level 3 and above can become a windbreaker. So let us all become W.I.N.D.B.R.E.A.K.E.R. !!!

Transportation

What is it?

At Hardboard we have a van, a car and a trailer. We think it is important that these are used responsibly and with care, to prevent accidents or damage. Therefore, you require a Hardboard bus , auto or trailer license to drive these vehicles.

What can I do with it?

This way you can easily see who is allowed to drive specific vehicles. You can use this to check whether there are enough people with licenses for a surfing-day.

How do I become it?

To qualify for a Hardboard license you need to have a driving license for at least 1 year. If you have this, you can your license from one of the Weizenmannen (Responsible men/women), which can be recognized by having a green icon . If you desire this, you can contact them using the following address weizenmannen@dwv...

Windsurfing

What is it?

At hardboard we differentiate between five different windsurfing levels. The spheres represent your level. If someone does not practice a certain sport, then they will have no spheres. People with a green icon are Hardboardinstructors. Besides instructors there are also people that are extra motivated to help you: The W.I.N.D.B.R.E.A.K.E.R.S. You can read more about this under the W.I.N.D.B.R.E.A.K.E.R. icon .

What can I do with it?

The equipment is fully arranged with respect to the levels. In the Acco you can easily see, which level is required to use a piece of windsurf gear. This way you can be confident that the gear fits you and your skills. Also you can use the spheres to check which people can potentially give you tips, advice and tricks.

How do I become it?

Windsurf as much as possible to increase your level. Also make sure that besides skills you also posess appropriate knowledge. This knowledge will make sure that you, your friends and others at the spot will be safe. Do you think you posses all required skills? Contact the Windcie at windcie@dwv… to change your level. Are you missing information or do you not understand a term? Read through the trictionary, let youtube inspire you or contact the Windcie. You can find the Windsurf Trictionary in Hardboard transportation.

Kitesurfing

What is it?

Kitesurfing differentiates between 5 different levels. These levels are separated into two categories: kite-basic and independent. Kite-basic covers level 1 en 2. A basic of level 1 has done an instruction at Antix (or other kiteschool) and has basic understanding of how a kite works, behaves in the wind window and how it can be steered safely. A basic of level 2 has more knowledge and understanding about the workings of a kite and can do most kiterelated actions by himself. When besides these skills you also have developed insight into circumstances and are fully indepent, then you can become level 3: independent. When you are independent you are fully able of judging situations and choice of equipment. The most important thing of becoming independent is that you are able to practice the sport in a safe manner by yourself.

When you have become kite-independent it is time to learn new tricks to grow to intermediate and eventually advanced. These levels require that you under all circumstances can sail safely and have absolute control of your kite.

Besides the kite levels there exists the kite-pro. A kite-pro is able to kite safely while also holding an eye out for basics. You can recognize a kitepro by having an green icon

What can I do with it?

Your level does not just represent your skills, but mostly whether you can make use of the Hardboard kite materials. Kitebasics of level 1 and 2 can only make use of the kitematerials if they are supervised by a kite-pro.

If you want to go kiting as a basic, make sure that there is a kite-pro joining the surfing-day. Get into contact with the kite-pro and ask whether he/she wants to supervise you. Is there no kite-pro joining, call or message a kite-pro and try asking whether he/she wants to join!

How do I become it?

Kite-basic you become after having lessons for at least 7 hours at our partner Antix. In special occasions the Flyhigh can advice you to take another lesson or give you status of kite-basic if you took lessons elsewhere. The levels after that are also given by the Flyhigh committee. When you possess all skills that belong to a specific level, you can qualify for that level. The judgment of the Flyhigh is determinative.
